Australia Strengthens Spin Attack With The Addition Of Kuhnemann

In preparation for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Australia has brought in left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann.

Mitchell Swepson, who is leaving the touring squad for the birth of his child, will be replaced by the spinner.

If Australia decides to tinker with their spin combination that played in Nagpur in the first Test, Kuhnemann could be given a chance as early as the Delhi Test on February 17.

Todd Murphy also picked up a seven-wicket haul in his debut for Australia, and they chose not to pick left-arm orthodox spinner Ashton Agar who is also part of the squad in India.

Despite a spin-friendly surface, Australia lost the first Test by an innings and 132 runs.

Also, Mitchell Starc is expected to return from injury in the second Test, and Cameron Green’s fitness will be assessed.

After making his debut in June 2022, Kuhnemann has played four ODIs for Australia.
