Shakib Al Hasan named as Bangladesh Test captain

Bangladesh Experience and All Rounder Player of Shakib Al Hasan has been named as a captain of the Bangladesh Test Side.

If we look at the past stats as a captain then Shakib did captaincy for the two stints and on that occasion team won three and lost 11 in 14 fixtures.. He was first appointed Test skipper in 2009 when Mashrafe Mortaza was injured in West Indies. He was then handed the reigns in 2017, replacing Mushfiqur Rahim.

“We have a series against Zimbabwe after the West Indies. He may not be there. Other than this, he gave us a commitment he would play in all formats in future series, but it’s difficult to say for how long Shakib will be leading the side,” he said.

“We had three names in our hand. If Shakib was not interested we would chosen the duo from the three available option.”
